Oblivion Stardust

Overview

"Oblivion Stardust" is a gentle yet melancholic starry-sky themed slow-tempo J-POP that weaves the story of twinkling stars in the distant sky as night quietly falls, set in a love story of the afterlife. "The streets glow with flames watching meteors, swaying uncertainly sharing the remainder of life" - like brief yet powerful starlight, it quietly touches listeners' hearts with its serene melody.

✦ Story of "Oblivion Stardust" ✦

The moment a comet streaked across the night sky, filled with anticipation, I went alone to the mountain in this small county town. For some reason, I was certain this place would be perfect for stargazing. When I finally climbed up the mountain, I was startled, almost slipping and falling - it turned out to be a cemetery (most small county town mountains in China have cemeteries).

But since I'd already come, I had to continue my plan.

So I found a spot where I wouldn't disturb them, set up my telescope, and tried to understand what the stars meant.

This was my first time stargazing with the dead, and I still couldn't quite accept it. No one had messaged me in my contacts, yet I kept checking.

Suddenly I felt like the entire sky was falling down. Was this mythology? Some strange phenomenon?

Suddenly a hand grabbed me - it was a transparent girl, a ghost. I hadn't noticed her grave was covered by these weeds.

I could only apologize to her, but she said she wanted to watch the stars with me.

As I watched the sky slowly descending for some reason, I felt some pressure.

The girl sat beside me: "You know, sometimes the starry sky is like the ocean. Those sparkling lights are the ripples of stars - they sway with the movement and slowly disappear."

I thought about it and said: "It's the difference in the flow of time. If we could extend a single moment of ripple, maybe they would disappear as slowly as the stars."

"Yeah, that would be nice, wouldn't it?"

"Actually, can you see the starry sky is falling?"

"But we still have some time. Why don't you stay with me for a while... after all, no one can stop this kind of thing."

"I know, but..."

"Why weren't you afraid of me?"

"Maybe because I've become indifferent..."

That night I didn't look at comets anymore, nor the moon, nor the stars or count constellations, nor look at the Big Dipper.

Instead, I stayed with her watching meteor after meteor crashing down.

The streets were filled with flames, yet we peacefully made wishes together.

The girl clasped her hands: "I want you to live well, forever."

"Thank you... then I hope you can be resurrected soon... or be reincarnated."

"Heaven's way is inferior to human way. If possible, I wouldn't let heaven's way exist. Maybe we were people who shouldn't have died, right?"

"Maybe" - I seemed to suddenly realize something, but just watched as a huge meteor gradually fell toward us, the flames becoming extremely colorful and brilliant.

(The camera slowly rises, showing a climber completely collapsed at the mountain base of the cemetery, covered in blood from the fall)

Where the climber fell was right above a young girl's grave at the mountain base. No one had visited her for a long time, weeds covered everything, but it was these same weeds that caught the climber.

Separated by a layer of soil, the two lay tightly together. In that moment, the world felt closer than ever.
